As for the Ancestry.com predicted relationship between your brother and your aunt, how many centiMorgans was the match? That is more useful than their guess that they are first cousins.

Welcome to Genealogy & Family History Stack Exchange! I'm confused by your saying "my father's half-sister" and "paternal grandmother" when you are unsure who your father is. Can we assume you're referring to the man listed as your father on your birth certificate?

Thank you. The records for our known family member Tzippa show her as being born c. 1883-1884, which makes it unlikely (but not impossible) that the other Tzippa was her aunt. The index record raises more questions than it answers.

If it is in your budget, I would start with an ancestry DNA test because ancestry has a lot of samples, family trees, people interested in genealogy, and government records. you can export the DNA and upload it to myheritage and GED match at no additional cost.
