Haplogroups are groupings of genetic markers that imply common ancestry hundreds or thousands of years ago. They are based on a hierarchical tree and assigned letters and contain subgroups referred to as sub-clades. Haplogroups are only associated with mtDNA and Y SNP & Y-STR testing.

Explaining paternal haplogroup of J2a1b1 for Chinese person?
I recently did a DNA test, to my surprise, my paternal haplogroup is J2a1b1.
Also, the test shows that I have 2.7% Balkan which is quite amazing.
How is that possible? … Is that Balkan ancestry somehow related to my paternal haplogroup? …
